Our Story

NordTent was born from a family's passion for the outdoors, passed down through generations.

The name NordTent originates from Northern Quebec, where our family has deep roots. Camping, hunting, fishing, and forest expeditions have always been a part of our lifestyle.

My name is Alexandre, and I founded NordTent with my father, Jonathan, and my uncle, Martin.

My father introduced me to camping when I was just 7 months old. My very first outdoor trip was a winter camping excursion in an old military surplus canvas tent. My uncle was also part of the adventure. Without realizing it, they had just passed on a passion that would shape my entire life.

Over the years, our forest outings multiplied. Whether during hunting trips, fishing excursions, or on our family land in Abitibi, we spent countless days and nights in nature.

Like many outdoor enthusiasts, we were constantly searching for equipment that could meet our needs. Yet, we always felt something was missing.

That's how it all began.

Our old military tent was the first project. We started modifying it ourselves: adding windows, higher walls, a raised structure, and multiple improvements to make it more comfortable and better suited for our adventures.

Over time, we tried many types of tents. Some were more comfortable, others easier to transport, but none perfectly met what we were looking for.

Then one day, we discovered inflatable structure tents.

It was a real breakthrough.

We immediately understood the potential of this technology. Quick setup, robustness, comfort, and the absence of traditional poles: everything finally seemed to match our vision of the ideal base camp.

As my father always said:

"If you want something done right, do it yourself."

So we decided to create the tent we truly wanted to use.

What started as a simple family project quickly turned into several years of design, testing, improvements, and expeditions in real conditions.

This is how the Basecamp was born.

A tent designed by outdoor enthusiasts to meet the needs of hunters, fishermen, campers, and adventurers who seek reliable, durable equipment adapted to the realities of the northern climate.

The same story lies behind the Radisson wood stove.

For years, we used different portable stoves. Some were too bulky, others lacked robustness or practical features for camp life.

Once again, we chose to design the equipment we genuinely wanted to use ourselves.

The Radisson was therefore born from the same principle as the Basecamp: to create a product designed for the field, developed from real experiences, and built to last.

Today, NordTent remains first and foremost a family business.

Behind every product are thousands of hours spent in the forest, around a fire, in a hunting camp, on a fishing lake, or during an expedition with friends and family.

We don't design our products behind a desk.

We develop them where they are meant to be used: in the field.

And today, we are extremely proud to share NordTent with you.

Welcome to the NordTent family.
